I tried a couple of attorneys. But they were not as honest as they should have been. So I decided to go through non profit legal aid organization. They take your case based on your income situation and merits of the case. My case has been filed already and now I have to wait for a couple more years to hear something back from USCIS. One drawback of U visa application is that it can take years to get your visa in hand. If you have that much patience and you think there are not any other options, only then you should go the U visa way...

what was the nature of crime that you were a victim of ? this is the most important aspect of the whole case... Sometimes the crime is not a qualified one to apply and the attorneys still take your case. you don't wanna waste 3 + precious years of your life in all this...

ya i got hurt in that assault case but thanks God i am alive. If you read the non precedent decisions by the USCIS you will see that a lot of U visa cases are being ruthlessly denied by the uscis just because they do not agree that robbery was a qualifying crime. If your legal rep is good enough to file the case smartly at the first hand at the filing time then there can be some good chances. but again it is up to the adjudicator and your luck.
