  • U.S Visitor Visa for Parents of U Visa holder

I'm hoping to get my final approval of U Visa soon (Oct-Nov 2017). My question is can I fill form I-134 affidavit of support for my parents?

My parents have tried to get the visa before twice and rejected twice in interview at US embassy. My uncle sent them the affidavit of support and reason was to visit and meet the family including seeing myself. It has been 10 years since I meet me parents.

At that time I was out of status. Now I've DA EAD and soon I'll have the 4 year EAD. If someone have any similar experience or if someone on u visa Has applied under similar circumstances please share your experience. Any other suggestions are welcome as well.

Csharam I m in exactly same situation as u are. Haven't seen parents in 10 years, been rejected twice, sponsored by uncle once. My apply date is December 2014. I m planning to go home country once I get U visa. I think if u sponsor them U should have enough financial support to show the counsulate.

Financially I should be all right. Are you planning to get u visa stamped? How are you going to come back?

For B1/B2 visitor visa one should show non immigrant intent with solid family and financial ties with home country, or anyone on legal status with a good W2 and savings account can sponsor their parents.

DA/EAD is not a visa status. You will have to wait for actual U visa.

I was in f1 back in 2008. I probably won't even try the step in my case because I don't want to find out if embassy refuse to let me come back

At the present time the estimated time span will be approx 4 years to get your Green card approved. The day your u visa approves exactly 3 years later you can file for your Green card ( certain restrictions apply)

I applied back in April 2014 and still final u visa is not approved. I'll most likely get my green card in 2021-2022 . Now it would be a completely different story if someone apply today or even someone applied back in 2015-2016. God knows how long USCIS takes to Process all those pending applications.

I'm not sure about leaving the country once I get the u visa. I don't want to take a chance to get stuck out there.

                      Guys,
I have done it, i sponsered my parents on visitor visa after i got the final U visa approval. As stated by someone before we have to wait till we get the actual 4 year EAD FOR U visa then we can sponsor parents

Thank you so much for this wonderful information.
If you don't mind could you please tell me if you were in status before getting u visa or not? I had over stayed my F-1 . Thanks again

Yes i was on F1 visa then on h1b visa for 4 years and was changing jobs with 3rd employer when he did the visa fraud in my case. For parents Visitor visa procedure ia exactly the same as you would have apploef when you were in H1b or F1 status nothing changes

Yes. Does it matter if I've overstayed my F-1 Visa in case for applying for my parents? Or after getting my U status it won't matter because USCIS has pardon me. Thanks

yes the very fact that your U visa was approved means that you have been pardoned about things related to overstaying the visa (out of status or illegal stay) just have to make sure you dont leave the US till you get the GC otherwise if you go for stamping it might casuse problems.
