  • Processing time for green card based on U Visa Approvals

How long does it take to receive green card after application is sent.

  • #2
    Hi Alma,

I'm still waiting for the 3 year mark to apply but from what I've heard from other people and my lawyer, it takes about 3-6 months for your EAD/Parole card and 8-10 months for the GC to be approved.

Are you in process of applying?

      HI Alma,
My brother in law and his family just received their GC. it took them almost 8 months to receive their GC. the U visa was approved in 2014 and they received GC in Nov. 2017

        Hello everyone,
When does the 3 year countdown starts? When you are put on a waiting list for a U Visa or whe you actually receive your U Visa?
        Thank you in advance.

The 3 year countdown to do AOS starts from the date U-Visa was issued (not the DA date/waiting list).

Can you please update us on your experience and outcome once you hear the final decision. I will be applying for AOS via U-Visa in Jan 2021 and trying to do ground work to understand what I need to do exactly to get approved. Thanks for your assistance in advance!

                            Hello:
I have filed in March 2018. Below is my timeline and have not heard since:

--Applied for AOS i485 on March 28 2018 (receipt date).
                            --Biometrics done: June 2018
                            --EAD card received: September 2018
--Renewal EAD card: filed January 2019
                            --Currently: waiting since

The wait is kind of frustrating. Lets hope for the best. Did anyone heard of anyone getting approval?
