    H4 to F1, does it cancel the H4 status?

    Hello Mr.Peerally,

    I am going to get married next year. I plan to bring my wife on H4 visa. I already know she can enroll into a university on an H4, but that has serious restrictions regarding, work opportunities and assitantship.
    So I was thinking to change her status to F1 when she is already in the country. Now will this change affect her H4 status? Will it cancel the H4 status, and she will not have any legal connection with me in the eyes of the american law? I am sorry if my questions are absurd, but its a genuine doubt.
    Would really appreciate if I could get any feedback on this.

      Once you do a change of status to F1 and the F1 is approved, of course she will no longer have an H4 status. However, she can revert back to the H4 visa by either doing another application to change to F1 or just leave and come back on her existing stamp on her passport and entering on an H4 visa.
