  • Transferring from H1B to F1

    Hi-

I am planning to PhD programe in a reputed university and was wondering if somewhere we have steps laid out for converting from H1B to F1. The university would be issuing an I-20 but is that equivalent to an F1 visa or do I need to file something on my own? My H1B is valid till late 2014.

Thanks and appreciate your suggestion and guidance.

    Regards-
    Santosh.

As far as I know if you are still working you can use the H1B. If not then you need the F1. My friend did the same and after the i-20 file for COS,,,
