I need some guidance regarding traveling during OPT.
I'm currently on my initial OPT of 12 months which expires on Jan 03, 2017. I graduated with a Masters in MIS from Texas Tech University and working in the same field for the State of Texas.
I'm planning to visit India for my brother's wedding from Nov 24th to Dec 29th 2016. How risky is it to travel during this period and returning just 5 days before my OPT expires? or Should I hold on until my OPT gets approved and then travel from Mid December to Mid Jan 2017?
I want to know if I can apply for the 24 month OPT extension on Oct 03, 2016 (90 days before my 12 month OPT expires) or can I do it earlier?
If the application is not approved by the time I travel to India, then will my departure from the US affect my OPT extension approval?
