  • Questions on F1 Visa status

    Hello Shah,

I thank you in advance for helping with these questions.

I would like to have some legal information on F-1 visa status. My wife is on H-4 visa status and she is trying to get an admission for Masters in college in Iowa.

She is a Registered Nurse (Licensed in Iowa nursing Board) not able to work since she is on H-4 and she would like to take Master of Science in Nursing (family Nurse practitioner - FNP). Before She goes to college for applying for I-20, we would like to know few details.

Following are the details I would like to know.

    1. She is currently residing in US on H-4, once she gets I-20, does she need to go back to India and stamp visa for F-1 to start the college ?

    2. What are the restrictions on taking on-line courses in F-1 status?

    3. Currently My Company is pursuing Green card for me, will there be an issue later to change her status from F-1 to green card (I-485)?

    Appreciated your help

    Thanks and regards
