I am trying to file for Green Card petition for my parents. My father does not have a Birth Certificate, so we procured a Non-availability certificate. We are trying to get two affadavits for him, but he does not have any surviving relatives older than him (He is 72). I know that we can get the affidavit from a family friend too. My question is: Does the friend have to be significantly older than him (like 10 years or so) or is it OK if they are between 1-4 years older than him? What are his other options of getting an affidavit?
