My dad sent me a scanned certified translation of my birth certificate ( translated and certified by Notary Office in my home country) through email. Can I print it out and submit it with I-485? Or do I have to submit the original translation (i.e. my family will have to send the original one through express mail to me)?

Yes, you might be able to submit the scanned copies. However, it will be better to submit the original of the translation and the copy of the birth certificate. However, if it is going to take too long, it is better to submit the copy. You do not want to risk a situation where your priority date retrogresses.
