Deffered action granted - need advice on travel

    Hello everyone,
came to usa in 2007 with a student visa and i have violated the stay, after being a victim of a crime i have applied for u status on 2014 and just received a letter from uscis granting the deffered action. Presently living in the usa . Trying to get some help and advice on the reentry permit as i like to make a trip . I am sure that i can get a re entry permit, but as i have a previous violation will i be allowed to re enter ? Tips and advise will be appriciated.

Congra on your deffered action. Any lawyer will advise you not to travel outside the country even after you receive your U visa. Most people travel outside the country after their Green card have been approved. I am not really sure what kind of re entry permit you will obtain. Can you be specific?

Congrats! Apart from sharing your concerns, it would have been more appropriate and appreciable if you had shared your timeline too. Why people forget their own ordeal in waiting very long for the deferred action notice when they receive it, they forget that so many people like him have been waiting anxiously for over 2 years. Please mention your timeline so that many of us will have at least a ray of hope that it actually started moving forward

    Please share you timeline.

It is likely that you cannot apply for advance parole until your actual U visa is approved. Even after it is approved, Lawyers strongly appose leaving the country until your adjustment of status is approved. if you do choose to leave, keep in mind that ICE can send you back upon inspection due to your infraction of stay. I would not travel abroad in your situation.

I agree with May 2016 - we strongly discourage traveling. However, we have just been able to obtain a waiver allowing possibly for the U visa traveler to come back.
